Counterfeit Kit Challenge Reveal – October, 2020
Hello everyone! I always look forward to the first of the month because it means a new Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit and blog hop. I am so excited that I get to be the guest designer for this month’s challenge! I can’t wait to see how everyone interprets this kit.
The October kit is inspired by Shimelle Laine’s Best of Both Worlds Kit for September.
In her unboxing video, Shimelle does a great job giving you substitutions in case you want to use your own stash (which we do!). You can watch that video here. This helped me in making my own kit & gave me an idea for a great starting point. I love how you can take a kit in any direction depending on what you choose to focus on – I have taken the type of content rather than the colors or motifs. Here is my version of this month’s Counterfeit Kit – “Memories of Home.”
The piece of striped paper (middle, right) was my starting point for this kit. The red, orange, golden yellow & brown felt like fall & are the deeper hues I tend to use. There is also a pop of bright green & blue/teal to lighten things up. I love that she included woodgrain since this is another go-to pattern of mine. Here is a close up of just the papers:
I then added the tone-on-tone papers, red diagonal stripe and the floral paper is for fussy-cutting. The small heart pattern is from the same Simple Stories line as the main stripe. The cardstock is all scraps in the fall colors.
Next we have all the embellishments and extras to play with. I have quite a few cut-aparts from Jillibean Soup and journaling cards from Simple Stories. The stickers are bits and pieces that I would like to use up. I have 3 versatile alpha sets but reserve the right to add more if I need to. I also like to use my cricut to cut titles for my layouts. Finally, I added a stencil with flowers, leaves & a butterfly, ink pads to use with the stencil, enamel dots & some die-cuts that match the cut-apart sheet.
Here is the complete list for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop – everyone’s kits are always different so make sure to check them all out!

Welcome to CK Blig Hop, what a lovely kit you have put together. Thanks for being our Guest DT Member.
Thank you! I am so excited that I was invited to be the Guest Designer this month. I always love looking through everyone’s kits and getting inspiration.
Sujch a cool kit 🙂 I like how you decide your process to for getting that kit put together 🙂 Welcome and thank you for being our Guest Forger this month 🙂
Thank you! I have learned a lot about starting points from the monthly “Just the Gist” series. There is always a way of looking at a kit I hadn’t thought of before. So many options & ways to go with your own stash.
Love your Autumn colour vibe! I started with a striped paper, too, which really helps pull the rest of the kit together. This is gorgeous <3
Thank you! I use these colors (deeper, jewel tones) most often in my scrapbooking. I agree, the striped paper made everything else fall into place. I loved your stripe & the coordinating papers as well, so bright & fun!
Nice job on constructing your kit. I recognize so many of those papers, like the floral and cut aparts from my own stash. So I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you do with the kit.
Thank you! I always love florals but then have trouble using them because they seem so busy. I brought this one into the kit specifically for fussy-cutting & I love the colors.
Have fun with your guest design spot! I love seeing where everyone goes with their kits. Our stashes and inspiration can span such a wide range.
Thank you! Yes, I love looking at everyone’s kits because they are all so different. There are so many starting points to the Counterfeit Kits – colors, themes, types of paper (stripes, dots, etc.). The list is endless!
This looks wonderful. Your colours are awesome.
Thank you! I tend to like/use more jewel tones and deeper colors.
I absolutely adore your fall vibe in this kit. I am sure you are going to create such lovely pages with this one! PS….the washi sheet in my kit? I hate it. LOL! Let’s hope I can use it up.
Thank you! I LOVE everything fall! I am looking forward to playing with it more and plan on making some cards as well as layouts. LOL about the washi sheet – I have had that for so long & just don’t know what to do with it.
Beautiful kit Machelle, Love the woodgrain chevron paper.
Thank you! I love woodgrain! It makes a great background paper and goes well with the jewel tones I tend to use.
ALL THIS LOOKS SO FUN FOR CUTE PROJECTS!
Thank you! I made a double page layout so far & can’t wait until this weekend when I have some more time. There will be at least a couple more layouts & hopefully some cards with the scraps.
Your kit looks great! I especially love the paper you chose and the alphabet stickers.
Thank you! Fall colors & wood grain are my go-to papers in general so I have a lot of them that need to be used!
I love your kit! I love the colors. Those colors are more what I gravitate to, too!
Thank you! As far as the colors, it’s not just scrapbooking – I tend to buy clothes & home decor in those shades as well.
This is such a great set of supplies for fall projects! I really love the autumn color scheme with the pops of teal. So pretty!
Thank you! I love fall & wanted to convey a warm, homey feel with the kit. I like the teal, too, although I am having a hard time actually using it! Stay tuned for an update on a couple of layouts I’ve made.
WHat a fun idea! I am only just getting into paper crafting, so this is great timing!
So glad you’re getting crafty! What type of projects are you interested in? There is so much inspiration out there, but if you have any questions or suggestions of something you would like to learn more about, please let me know! I will be happy to help if I can.
